Surgery

We prioritize your pet’s safety during surgery with careful anesthesia monitoring before, during and after every procedure.

At Island Tides Veterinary Hospital, we approach surgery and anesthesia with a high level of care and consideration. All general anesthesia patients are monitored with our standard monitoring equipment which includes a multi-parameter unit (measures ECG, heart rate, blood pressure, spO2, etCO2, respiration rate and body temperature) and additional heart rate/blood pressure monitors (Doppler). Patient warming blankets and warmed IV fluids keep patients comfortable. During surgery, a Veterinary Technologist works closely with the veterinarian to monitor and adjust anesthesia for a smooth and pain-free procedure and recovery.

Our veterinarians provide a range of soft tissue operations to enhance the quality of life for dogs and cats. They include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Spay and neuter

  • Surgical biopsy

  • Mass/tumor removal

  • Foreign body removal

  • Abdominal exploratory surgery

  • Limb amputation

  • Bladder stone removal

  • Wound repair

  • Ear and eye surgery

  • Skin growth removal

  • Dental/oral surgery
